Organized by Wheelock Properties (Hong Kong) Limited and jointly hosted by Wharf Art, Gallery by the Harbour and Harbour City, the “City Transformation” Photographic Exhibition holds its opening ceremony on 6 January at Gallery by the Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui, together with an award ceremony for the winners of the “City Transformation Wheelock Photography Competition” . An overwhelming response of more than 1,000 entries were received and 6 stunning images were chosen as the prized winners.

Kowloon East has witnessed Hong Kong’s evolution from an industrial city to an international metropolis: Kai Tak Airport saw sentimental goodbyes during the migration wave and countless factory workers made their humble contributions to our city’s developments. Through the government’s “Energizing Kowloon East” initiative, the area evolves into Hong Kong’s CBD2 – an urban oasis where a number of multinational corporations, small and medium enterprises, artists and creative industries proudly call home.

Aside from showcasing the winners’ photographs, the exhibition also features the artworks that testify the city’s evolution created by local students from The Wharf Young Art Ambassador after a journey to Kowloon East historic relics.

Chairman of Wheelock Properties Stewart C. K. Leung says, “This is the fourth year Wheelock Properties has hosted a public photography competition. We’ve themed it on “City Transformation” so the photographers can chronicle the magnificent change in Kowloon East through photography and their creative eyes. We at Wheelock and the public can indulge in these enchanting works, all thanks to the enthusiasm of every participating photographer.”

The “City Transformation” Photographic Exhibition takes place in Gallery by the Harbour at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui from 5 January 2017 to 15 January 2017. Admission is free.
